OSM2MIF - Ordnance Survey MasterMap to MapInfo MIF/MID translator - Updated 03.12.06
OSM2MIF translates OS MasterMap data in GML format into MapInfo MIF/MID format.

OSM2MIF translates topo, itn and address layers. This latest update fixes bugs with inner polys and some issues.

Please note that this software has been designed primarily for data files supplied to users of the DIGIMAP service. It has been tested with the OS sample datasets but its compatibility with all gml output cannot be guaranteed.

It is not designed to handle very large data files (should be OK up to about 300MB). It can however batch convert smaller chunks of data.

TOMS2XYZ converts NASA's TOMS data into a X (lon) Y (lat) Z (datavalue) delimited text file. TOMS data in its downloaded format cannot easily be read, but TOMS2XYZ converts the data into a format which can be used in spreadsheets, or a GIS to create grid maps. Features include limiting the area converted (TOMS data files cover the entire globe) and ignoring missing data ('999') values.

Why is everything here free?

In 1999 the geospatial world lost a pioneer in the
provision of free geospatial software - SOL KATZ.

Processing digital spatial data requires expensive software and it is frustrating to find that getting a particular data format into your GIS is impossible without the purchase of a translator at even more cost.  Sol Katz recognised that expensive software restricted access to digital spatial data and his legacy is a wealth of free programs and utilities which have inspired others to contribute.

This selection of applications is just such a contribution.
